Dr. Paw Paw | First Impressions

Dr Paw Paw is a brand I was first introduced to last year at Olympia Beauty 2015, but by the time I had found them I was all out money! I was very pleased however to find the stall early on this year at Olympia Beauty 2016 to get a couple of bits.

The brand’s products use a variety of natural ingredients including fermented Pawpaw (which has been found to have natural healing qualities) which is the fruit of the plant Carica Papaya. It’s the first UK based balm and Dr Paw Paw ‘Original’ is a best selling, multi-purpose fragrance free balm that can be used on lips, skin, hair, beauty/make-up finishing, cuticles, nails, on dry/cracked skin such as heels/hands/elbows too!

Dr. Paw Paw: 7 in 1 Hair Treatment Styler (RRP £12.99)
This 150ml hair treatment was an instant buy for me as I had been on the lookout for a new Vegan + CF product to put in my hair when wet to stop frizz when I french plait it wet, or before blow drying it.
The 7 features this product boasts are:
1. Heat Protection
2. Reduces Split Ends
3. Detangler
4. Leave-in Hair Treatment
5. Reduces Frizz and Smoothes
6. Blowdry Styling Aid
7. Adds Shine

I’ve found this to be pretty great for everything listed above (and it also smells amazing), much better than the non cruelty-free brand I had used in the past . The creamy texture is similar to a hair serum, but not quite as oily, which I have a lot of time for. I would recommend spraying the product onto your hands first and then distribute it evenly throughout the lengths of your hair. The first few times using this I went a little overboard with the spraying from the roots and it left my hair feeling a little too smooth and shiny (and a little greasy too) from all the excess product. This was entirely my fault however and have since used a little more sparingly and my hair is very happy because of it!

I really rate this product – I’m loving it so far, and will definitely be re-buying when it runs out!

Dr. Paw Paw: Multipurpose Soothing Balm, Limited Edition Red Sparkle (RRP £6.95)

I’m not going to lie, I was initially drawn to this as opposed to one of the colour lip balms due to the “Limited Edition” and “Sparkle” in the title (I’m such a sucker for marketing), and the suggestion it could also be used on the cheeks and décolletage. I’m a little disappointed however because I found the glitter to feel a little odd and “bitty” on my lips, as they are quite large specks, but very few and far between. I’m very particular about textures, particularly on my lips, and this item I’m sadly not a huge fan of, but if we minus the glitter I think I would probably use it daily.

The other Balm variations available are: Ultimate Red, Peach Pink and Original (or you can get the full set of all three). I’m hoping I’ll manage to try the others (particularly Peach Pink) soon! For a full range of Dr. Paw Par products, click here.
