Packing essentials for your next motorhome holiday

Are you going on a motorhome holiday this year? Ensure you’re ready for anything and everything by packing these essentials, from key camping gear to effortless entertainment.

Camping gear

Recreate the perfect set-up wherever you stay with quality camping gear that’s comfortable, convenient to transport and will withstand all weather. This should include a camping table and chairs for outdoor dining and an attachable awning for shelter from the sun or rain.

You could also consider bringing cooking equipment such as a stove or barbecue to enhance your kitchen’s capabilities.

Basic tools

In case of emergencies, it’s always advisable to carry basic tools for repairs. A motorhome packs a lot into a small space, so something loose or broken can quickly become a hazard that risks your safety. Your toolbox should include:

  • Hammer
  • Pliers
  • Screwdriver
  • Nails and screws
  • Wire cutters
  • Measuring equipment
  • Cordless drill
  • Utility blades
  • Glue and tape

Remember to take out a comprehensive motorhome insurance policy for financial protection and breakdown cover in the event of accidents on the road where professional assistance is needed to mend your motorhome.

Food supplies

Storage space is limited in the motorhome, so you should plan your meals ahead of time and pack the corresponding food supplies. Particularly consider how much fresh food can fit into your fridge and freezer and how long these products will remain at their best.

Remember to pack the kitchenware you need to eat your meals too! Bring plates and cups, cutlery, mugs for hot drinks and bin bags for clearing up afterwards.

Varied clothing

Especially if you’re holidaying in England where rainfall and sunshine can be unpredictable, ensure you pack varied clothing so you’re well-equipped for all weather! Include a waterproof and warm jumper, walking shoes and sandals and sun protection such as a cap and glasses.

Again, planning is key to saving space: opt for coordinating items you can layer together to create a mini capsule wardrobe. Vests and long-sleeve t-shirts can be worn alone or underneath jumpers and work well with sportswear or denim.

Entertainment

Exploring outdoors and driving between destinations will take up most of your time, but when your energy levels need recharging you’ll want some easy entertainment to hand.

Look into portable Wi-Fi hotspots so you can stream your favourite films and TV series via your laptop or tablet. Remember that a wide variety of games are available to play via your mobile phone App store, or you can gather together for a couple of rounds of your best-loved board game.

Take time to exercise your creativity too, whether via reading a book, writing or painting. During your travels, you’ll come across plenty of picturesque spots that will inspire you and relax your mind.
