A couple of weeks ago the fabulous people at Yelp London (who I’ve mentioned on my blog a few times before) put on an evening at Rawligion, a lovely little natural cafe, just off Tottenham Court Road, on Tottenham Street.
Rawligion is a raw, plant based, organic “grab & go” café, everything they sell is gluten, dairy, GM, refined sugar, and dairy free! Now I’m a sucker for plant based “food experiences” whether it’s a casual café tapas atmosphere such as Rootcandi in Brighton, or the dim lit, nude restaurant – The Bunyadi in London, so I was pretty excited to check this place out!
Following some research from the founder John, after he had been struggling with an illness, he became very aware of the affect the consumption of different foods had on his health. After changing his lifestyle, focusing his diet on eat raw foods & “juicing”, it resulted in a clean bill of health. And so, the seed was planted in his mind, for the Rawligion cafe idea. The purpose to change the perception of plant based food, as there’s so much stigma around it & to show that there’s a lot more you can do with “raw” and Vegan foods, that isn’t just carrots & hummus. I think Rawligion succeeded in this mission & achieves it pretty damn well.
The staff went out of their way to be helpful and hospitable, and the dishes that they had prepared for everyone to try at the event were mouth watering. They offer a range of drinks, including: flavoured waters, juices, vitamin “shots”, and flavoured botanicals. The food is all perfect sized for a hearty lunch and consists of innovative takes on typical “vegan friendly” foods: falafel, courgetti, sushi and tabbouleh. Aswell as the savoury dishes, the sweet “desserts” & rich raw chocolates are a must try!
Check out the pictures below of some of the dishes they had available when I went to visit. A particular dark horse for me was the Korean Carrot BBQ dish (with carrot, chilli, sesame, coriander seeds, black pepper, salt, coconut, sugar, olive oil) – I didn’t expect to like it as I’m not usually a fan of BBQ flavours, but this dish was absolutely delicious – amazing what can be done with grated carrot!
If you like the look of any of the food or drinks below and would like to know about what’s in each of them, check out the website for more info!
If you’re not sure you’ll be able to get there before work, or on your lunch break, there’s good news – they did a trial run with Deliveroo on the day of this event, so soon enough you’ll be able to order their tasty food straight to where you work, for a nutritious and delicious meal… Perfect for those days that you accidentally leave your packed lunch at home!
I hope the look of the brilliant food and drinks available at Rawligion has inspired you to try something raw and plant-based sometime soon!

I also wrote a post about UberEats an app similar to Deliveroo that allows you to get food from your favourite restaurants (including the delicious raw vegan place “Vantra Vitao”) delivered straight to your door – there’s even a code for £10 off your first order in my blog!
This place looks really interesting, wouldn’t have thought I’d enjoy raw food but the kelp noodles and courgetti actually look quite appetizing! And it’s near Tottenham Court Road too, so maybe we should try it on the next #TCRBloggers meetup!
